Some poached pear salad with goat cheese from our first course Christmas Eve Dinner.

Mmmh, looks delicious. Coincidently, we also had poached pear as part of our Christmas dinner. Served it as a dessert though, with vanilla ice cream and the poaching liquid (red wine and spices) reduced down to a syrup.
Excellent dessert. The older I get the more I lean towards fruit desserts after a big meal rather than some huge rich chocolate concoction. I love poaching fruit in wine and then reducing the left over liquid and making a syrup out of it . In summer try some white peaches with an off-dry white.
